but "Jim

" wouldn't go - and we sat in the little grove above the landing & sang & had lots of fun, while he sat on a stone & smiled. When Tom got back we took Ned's picture under the St. George's flag - with a pipe & a bottle &c. She broke Tommy's Glasgow pipe - much to his sorrow. Ned & I went home just before supper and after it rowed back (with Flavie) to arrange a picnic to White Lake tomorrow. The girls & boys came down to the landing & talked to us & Ned & Flav. took Charlotte for a row while I got out for a visit with Mary Helen & Tom. They decided to go if they could get a boat - but theirs had not come. Flav. rowed us back to Big Otter in 17 min. It was after dark and the shores were so wild looking & the water so weird & lonesome and strange - I felt queer & eerie. On big Otter they were holding a meeting by camp fire light - the faces were lit up by the flickering light & canoes & skiffs & the "Idle Hour" were drawn up on the rocks. While a few silently paddled back & forth on the still water between big & little otter. It was a queer sight. We waited
