come for me, but "Tom" offered to take me home later. After Ned went we talked to the 2 young men awhile & then went over to the Mt. Julien store, where a French-Canadian carves & sells cedar things. Mary bought a little pair of paddles & we inspected everything. The boys bought striped candy, which we consumed going home. Finally they went sailing & we girls - Helen, Mary & I - explored the rocks - which are beautiful - behind the house. I have left my camera with Helen (am writing this Aug 4th) to take a picture here - & I hope it will be good. They are so very beautiful. Just before supper Helen went to Charlotte & Tom & I went over to Mt. J. dock & got birch bark & talked with a man about White Lake & how to get there & were in- vited to go up to Boshink in the "Iris" a little steam yacht - and had quite a chat & visit together & became eventually acquainted & were pretty late to supper - upon which Helen & Mary refused to speak to me for as much as a minute! I omitted to say that it stopped raining in the afternoon & was now lovely. After supper Mr. Stanberry & Mr. Struthers rowed me (See page 149)
