Warner came by in his auto & stopped. Claude & "Frank" had gone down town. Read in my room after dinner. Felt pretty rocky by night - neuralgic Apr. 10 Mon. and didn't sleep much - nor today. Was on and off the bed and couch all day. Played Flinch with Mother early tonight & then went up to bed. Gellett Burgess came down and played chess with her. Apr. 11 Tues. Still laid up. Flack telephones J.W. has gone to N.Y. which "helps out some". Read some & there was a big fire out Exchange St. (lumber shed) this p.m. Apr. 12. Wed. Fine day - after two days of pouring rain. I slept some last night - so went to the office (rather late) today. Found it pretty strenuous and took about 3 1/2 hours noon (a nap.) Went out to Chattie Davis' birthday 'sprise supper tonight. Lura, Mary, Nellie, Edith, Lilian, Kitty Crichton, Mrs. Bridges &c. It was a great success & a very nice supper. Chat was surprised. Mrs. Bridges was entertaining & Kitty Crichton sang &c. &c. I felt pretty bad by the time I got home and about 2 a.m. took 30 drops of laudunum & finally slept. Apr. 13. Thur. Worked pretty hard all day today. The Cutlers are home again but J.W. didn't stay late tonight. Lunched with Papa at "The Waldorf" this noon & called on Dr. Scranton who gave me some toothache plasters. He couldn't tell whether it was the old root. It was all so badly inflamed. Lura & Mary
are going to Syracuse for over Sunday.
