Flack up to West Monroe Avenue lock and walked toward Clinton Avenue till we found Gracie Bingham's boat which I named the "Stormy Petrol" because it runs by petroleum. She was there and "Charlie" Lewis, her brother, and "Sally

", his bride (from the South) and "Percy
" came later, and we had a nice little supper in the Cabin and waited awhile still-- tied up - and then, about dark started city ward with the thumping little Engine and the swinging lamp - "Reggy" at the wheel (with Grace) "Charlie
" at the Engine and "Percy
", "Sally
" and I on the "after deck". For such a short ride it proved rather a thrilling one. There went hair breadth escapes from collisions, thunder, lightning, and a few other little things before we arrived at the Aqueduct - in darkness. It was so near home and so late, that I left them ("Percy
" escorting me to the lights) And on the way home it poured - but I had a 'brolly. Mother had been out to tea and came in looking sweet in her blue silk and blue hat. I didn't feel real ok. Aug 11. Thurs. My pictures were actually done today. Such hustling - on Velox "velvet" a new paper and very nice, I think. A busy day at the office. Edith came up on her wheel tonight and we rode up to the campus and heard
