girls bought porcupine baskets & blueberries. Mrs. Mosher and Louise Gould came over and Mrs. M., Helen, Laura & Christine
went in bathing off the dock. I got Mary Mosher two way - standing and floating! (Much to Louise Gould's delight.) We had a large and hearty dinner. Venison &c. and read and rested most of the afternoon. Rather late (because it was still roughish) we all went up to Mandalay - dear Mandalay - in both the boats. It was lovlier than ever and my view is improved rather than otherwise by the cottage at "Duazyupleze". (I didn't get that view again. Helen promised to but didn't this year) The water was higher and it was easier landing at the "dock". Everyone - even Helen again - fairly gushed over it and Laura was en- chanted. I walked all over it. It was late for pictures, but I tried one in "the wood" do and Laura took me on the top most rock and looking as tho' I owned it and thinking of my big friend. Afterward Christine
and "Papa" Davis fished & the latter caught the loveliest perch he ever saw - and put it back (I was glad). They didn't get any bass big enough to keep (I hadn't grown them yet!) Then we built a stove and a fire down on the rocks. I tried to kindle it but didn't succeed, so Papa Davis did for me. We made tea and creamed potatoes &c and had apple
