and devoted the early part of the forenoon to taking baths! Then we did some errands. (I broke the nose-piece to my eye glasses, coming up - had that mended and lifts taken off my shoe heels &c.) Mr. Foster sent us a note asking them us to lunch with them - which we did - about 12:30 - in the big upstairs dining room facing the harbor. We found one of the ship waiters already busy here! Afterward we went up into the Japanese "sky parlor" (with a lovely view) where Mrs. Morrow was to meet us and "do the tower" - but un- fortunately, by the time she came it was pouring - and looked as tho' it would last forever, too. We visited for awhile - till Mr. & Mrs. J.P. Morrow (of Duluth) were to call, and then went to our room, promising to come down stairs and meet them, later. I was feeling - pretty miserable by that time - very feverish - and hadn't had any voice to speak of for two days - but we went down and spent an hour or so with the crowd in the sumptuous apartments below and really they were very entertaining - regular customers but had travelled everywhere - Cuba, Alaska and the regular thing. Had made money fast (out of iron) wore awfully good clothes and sparkled with diamonds! When they went we invited the Fosters and Mrs. Morrow to #502
