"Baroness Fiddlesticks - showy & lots of costuming but music
not much. It was written by a "millionaire" who sat in a box with Mrs.
Gussie MacDonell &c. The lobby was full of flowers &c. &c.
Quite interesting.
Nov. 8 Tues.Election day and Con's 40th
birthday! Fine
day, and we actually had a half holiday! I coaxed Mother out and we went up for a lovely walk over the
Pinnacle (from Clinton St) She'd
never been there & I only once. Enough leaves had fallen so that the views were
fine. We came down "the bear path" into the
Orphan Asylum lot and went thro' some of
the cottages. Then stopped at Davis's where
Flora Vogel entertained us a little while and then went to
McCurdy's and bought Mother
a pretty new blue suit! After supper played Flinch. Papa went down town for the "returns" but we knew
early by telephone, that our "Teddy" was elected, and I went to
bed at 10, to the sound of tin horns.
Nov. 9 Wed.
Today the Hillman's sail. Claude went down to N.Y. for a day or two and
tonight
Char came down to get me to go up to
Cro'nest & "protect" her. I was very tired,
but decided to go and we went to bed early. In the pretty "den" - after a hot
bath! The city did look beautiful from the hill. "Carlie" slept
in Char's Closet! and we locked our doors.
Result, no burglars!
