each a ride in Charles' little sailboat - and they both swam ashore. "Romeo" before his voyage and "Juliet" after! - much to the amusement of everybody. Before sunset Frank took Mate, Dem & me for a long row - Nearly down to McPhersons' - Such a pretty one, too. With a gorgeous (but cold!) sunset going on. Before we started the Bunnells all went back to Dansville - Mr. & Mrs. Fielder - who were there to dinner, started off in a shower a little earlier. We had a late supper - after lamplight - and spent the evening around the fire. I took Anthony Hope's "Sport Royal" upstairs to finish and had an nother fine sleep in the lovely wide-open room. Aug. 18 Mon. A beautiful morning - tho' it looked like rain last night. Frank began painting the new piazza railing before breakfast - and we picked out a location for the boat house. He rowed me up to "Wilkinsons" for the 8:30 boat and I did have a delightful ride down to Lakeville, with quite an interesting lot of people. Got to Rochester before 11 and Papa met me and took my "trunk" home - and umbrella - and of course I got caught in a shower at one - and had to borrow Harvey Gould's - in Scrantom's! Trudy
came this afternoon. She has some neuralgia - poor dear.
