sit half-concealed in overgrow rose - bushes - weeping for the long - forgotten dead - Crosses stand broken, stones tipped back and iron gates half rusted from their hinges - In one place a cedar hedge had become a thicket and inside the graves had been dug open to remove the bodies - and left so - a gruesome place for ghosts to walk. We came back partly a different way - but not the way we intended, for there was a skunky-smell and Sandy-O was with us! It was a quaint, romantic experience for the top of Rochester - first at our door - and to think I've lived here 19 years and never been there before! After we got back I 'phoned Mabel (all about her vacation &c.) while Chattie made the tea and fixed the peanut butter - and we were finishing our late supper when Lura came - we talked awhile and I read part of the "Little Sea Maid" aloud (Hans Anderson- I'd been telling them about its youthful influence over me) and I walked down with Lura
