We didn't have long to stay and it's awfully big. but we had time to
go in and see the old
Centennial Buildings - the "Memorial Art" and
"Horticultural Hall" and a new arch. &cross a pretty
little bridge up to the old Horticultural Hall, where
we saw the finest tree - and other ferns I ever hope to see - Like a
tropic jungle it seemed to me - and very, very beautiful. In a
little green house adjoining was a gorgeous exhibit of blossoms -
everything from Easter lilies & callas to the brightest purples,
yellows, pinks & reds. The tulips were wonders too. It was delicious -
the odors & all. There is a pretty view of the Schuylkill
from the front, but we had to go slowly back to our car, as it took
half an hour to go back down town (another way) and we stopped at
Gimbel's (a fine store) and bought handkerchiefs and
neckties for "the boys" -&c then went back to our hotel - had a
good dinner, packed up and took the car to the lovely Broad Street
station
and the 8:45 8:50 train for home! The
"Rinhern" was our car & we were the only ladies in it ("Lower Ten"
again) until about midnight when a solitary one came in. We had some
Phila papers to read before bed time.
