to see Annie Russell, Mrs. Gilbert and
Orrin Johnson in "The Girl and the Judge" -
a queer but cute little play by Clyde Fitch - as
"modern" as his always are. Mrs. Gilbert has a clear part and
Orrin is her nice son. The part of Mrs.
Brown, the landlady was very well done and, very funny -
and the opening scene is the judge's office, typewriter going and all,
after the first act, with the usher's kind permission we changed our
seats to the front row in the balcony - right by a box and where we
had a fine view of both stage and audience. Afterward we went to
"Staleys" for supper - a welsh rabbit for me - Then Bed!

weather. We went to Staley's (up by the theatre) to breakfast
and then went into the Stac "Pat"
office (we'd been into the "Star") and strolled up
13th St. and into an Armenian or Persian place,
where we got a spread for the parlor table. Then we went up
N.Y. Ave. past the church where
Lincoln used to go, and almost opposite, into the
"Hall of the Ancients" - a reproduction of part of
