fresh flowers on it - and Guy Henry's whom Papa knew - he only died the other day) and Phil Sheridans and the Bull Run Monument and the Temple of Fame and so on. We stopped at the fine old Lee Mansion, with its beautiful views of Washington and the river, and had a drink from the old well, with two buckets - and strolled over to the beautiful "pergola" where Decoration Day exercises are held - and after a rest walked slowly out the Fort Myer Gate - noting many interesting monuments on the way. We walked up into Fort Myer - hoping for a cavalry review, at least, but a fine looking man in uniform told us they'd nearly all gone to the Madison Square exhibition in N.Y. So we came out and took the 5:08 car to Rosslyn - and there walked across the old Aqueduct to Georgetown - all hills and docks - with the "Key Mansion" (where the "Star Spangled Banner" man lived) staring you in the face. It was only 10 or 15 minutes, acr in a green car, across Rock Creek bridge (another) to our Hotel, where we did some "washing up" and resting
