Feb. 8. Mon.
Cold again, but Dr. Andrews telephoned
me this morning that Dansville was cut off by
a flood, and anyway he didn't want
Mother to come yet - She wasn't able. I am glad she
can stay, but oh! we do
miss her. Got up early this morning as
Papa gets down before eight, and isn't
here to wash dishes &c. Scrambled eggs were a success tonight.
Claude came home from
Castile, in good spirits, this evening I Took a
hot bath and early bed. Still grippy.
Feb. 9 Tues.
The weather is something fierce - and it's no joke getting out at 6
or 6:30 in the morning. Lunched at Sibley's
for a change (& a square meal). The
Skipper
called with his map. Papa went to
the train - but of course Mother didn't come and we
had a late supper in consequence. He washed the dishes & I went to
cooking school - chicken - awfully good - Brought home some wings
&c for Zo & Zenda.
Feb. 10 Wed.Ste Fair and sunny - The river beautiful - but
high - They have dynamited out the lower ice - Mother
still flood- bound - Went to Mac Arthur's to
"flinch" tonight - and a welsh rabbit - very good.
Ida was the "new beginner".
