was simply perfect - such a voice and manner - I'll never forget how
he said to the school teacher "will you dance with me now ma'am"
after he had been introduced - and his lovely way of taking off his
hat and stooping down to say nice things - He has black hair and
blue eyes too - my favorite combination.
Edith Scott and her sister Mrs.
Bennett
and Rispah ("Rip - saw") Delate were there too
- and Mr. Parry - He always is.
Nov. 18. Wed.Hilliard took Claude to
the matinee today. He is the only one of 7 reporters who got an
interview with Owen Wister and it was most entertaining. They
are going to change the third act entirely and put in more
Trampas (who was very good) and
more Steve (the strongest drama-part of the book)
Wister liked
Hilliard so well he told Wolfs he was
going to send him an autograph edition of his books. I stayed down
to lunch (with the Moshers) at Sibleys
and then went shopping with Mother. Bought a
silver sauce boat for Frank
and Lillian and
Mother got them a silver candle stick - both with
"beads"
