Sunday Sept. 20 Another fine day. Rode up to Cro'nest this morning and as I spied Char and Jo in a car on the way to church I only had a word with them before it started - walked around the woodsy path with dearest brother - and to the barn to see the puppies and ate grapes behind the quaint old Castle. When I got back found Lura had been over, so rode over there (to "Martha's "

) but couldn't induce her to go up to the park with me. It was gorgeous there. I sat under a tree (or lay on a sunny bank) and read "Gallops" through again. After dinner Lura came over to see the Twins (who are very fascinating now) and later I went over to Mary's. Found the whole family there - including Alice & Mr. Whitten, who seems very nice. Mary walked part way back with me, and I went over to Roger's and had a long session with them on the piazza They were all very cordial and looking well, tho' I think Mabel has had the worst of the summer, taking care of the sick, and all. They made me stay to supper & I enjoyed it. "Pet" looked very pretty.
