and stopped in a moment to see how the new purchaser was changing
the house - Then mounted Diana & rode home swiftly.
Aug 24 Mon.
Another lovely day. Claude's at noon -
and he was actually sitting up - downstairs! Looked better, too.
Char and Miss
Hartley
were making sandwiches for the Monday callers. Stopped and had
Dr. Bennett
(in Scranton's absence) plug up a
tooth I'd broken - and which ached! Papa read
aloud this evening - from
"Pendennis" & I read Scrib.
Aug 29 Sat.
It has poured every since Thursday night.
Gertrude
came then, at 7:40 and I went down to the R & O station to
meet her. She has done not much of any- thing but rest since on acct
of the rain but claims that's what she came for. This p.m. she and
Chattie and I went to the
National to see Willie Collier in his new
play "Personal" a queer mix- ture,
but quite entertaining & lovely gowns & scenery & rather funny
con- versation - we enjoyed it. Chat
wd. have come home to supper with us, I think but it rained so. I
went up to Miss Crossen's and got my new silk waist.
Am having a blue & green shirtwaist suit, too
