There were relics of Lincoln, too, and his death mask and cast of his fine strong hands, and the old shining broadcloth suit - with worn out buttons - he used to wear in his office as President. Washington's dress uniform (buckskin trousers & vest) was there and ever so many relics of the Maine and of the Spanish War. &c.&c We looked at little else but the relics - much of the museum & the Smithsonian Inst. was exhibited at the "Pan" (where we saw it) and is now in Charleston. We walked into the S. Inst. and saw the live gold fish and birds and a few of the stuffed ones. Then we "piked" across the beautiful park for 12th Street and the Raleigh - and washed and rested and dressed & felt better. Late in the afternoon we took the car up to the Library
