and 3 children. Mrs. McLean of
Hamilton,
Miss Saxton, her guest. Miss Mattie
McLean (about 20) and her guest, Agnes
Clare, and Isabel McL. about the
"doll" age. She had three with her. They made a very long call and
inspected every single tack in the place. Finally, about four or so,
they asked us to go sailing, and Hamilton and I accepted. There was a fine breeze and we
went down Bragdon Bay and thro' a Crack to
Sturgeon Bay and had some fine sailing (on one ear)
there. Meanwhile the McLean's were eating their
"dinner" of bread and cheese and "Freddie
" was picking up the crumbs. The young girls were very pleasant
and Mrs. McL. queer and dowdy but apparantly
smart. The Hansons
are nice "plain folks" - coming back near
McI's island, my hat (Mary's,
by the way) blew off and there was an exhibition of fine seamanship
getting it again but they did it. It was rather latish in the
afternoon when we got home - and I chose to stay, rather than go back to
