- for the 4 horses followed the road bed - but the road went up on
to a fenc hill by the fence - one of the
leaders was half buried in a drift & fell down - we all piled
out and pull - The sky was over cast the wind blew and it snowed-
blizzard-like - just like a picture of "Lost in the
desert" - but after a while we were ex- tricated and the
road was found and although it was very bad, we managed to reach
Mrs. C
's between halfpast Eight and nine with only one more
incident of a similar character. Hot oyster
soup-celery-pickles-rolls- hot coffee doughnuts &c. and two
roaring grate fires put us in good spirits. The twins played duets -
a Miss ? "did stunts" played monkey &c, and we had a nice cozy
time till 10, when we started for home. It was much colder, and
blizzardy, but
