me he would raise my salary to $20 per week (which I expected) and give me a check for $50 on the first of the month, so I "celebrated" by giving Papa a dollar for a new tie, Mother $5.00 for her owney-own - Trudy some gloves, Claude a Jap tobacco jar he wanted and Char a "Family Account book". I took it up to her after supper (Mother, Trudy, & I) Josephine is there and we had a real nice little evening with them - I think "Jo" is good fun & Trudy liked Charlotte - who is pretty well tired, but had a good time in Syracuse - of course. Dec. 31. Wed. Still nice wintry weather. Got a nice letter from Cousin Carrie, who liked the Hudson Book. And the other day a letter from Alice enclosing this picture of Gurdon. Tonight Trudy & I went down to Edith's, by invitation, Mary was to come it and play pedro, but didn't feel equal to it so we spent the evening talking and with Edith's various boxes of candy. Went to bed very tired - too tired to hear the New Year come in, with it's usual din!
