there and with Claude in the piazza. Then we had luncheon, and Teresina Peck showed me her Italian pictures (She just home from her 3rd trip there!) and then I went for a long long walk with Claude and Kath over the hills and down thro' the valley and up the other hill to "Thorndon" a beautiful old woody place - Where we sat on the bank of the real "Mare d'Anteuil" (I'm sure) and "Carlie" went for sticks and dragged huge logs around and then we took a beauteous wood- path out - all brown leaves below and yellow leaves above and misty, misty fall sunshine, and Carlie's strange little figure darting here and there - like a combination of Ibbetson dreams and Ibbetson nightmare. We went another (and more civilized) way home - and Claude rested in my room before dinner. He has a bad cold. Fred went to make a call - and Harry and Teresina another and I loafed and finally - about 7 (It was meant to be 6:30 but "Mrs. Stone" looked at presents half an hour - till Mrs. W. invited her to stay)
