After that we had a business meeting. President
Mabel Rogers made a "retiring speech,
praising her own administration, which resulted in her being elected
'till death or marriage - (probably in very short term on acct. of
matrimonial prospects, she said!) Then "The office of Secretary"
(mine) was made perpetual and also that of treasurer (Charlotte) and she was commended for
having her cash acct. come out right. Then we decided to meet this winter
and to ask Florence Rogers for a tenth and
Miss Scott
for all 11th member (there seemed some doubt about her, so we
decided if she declined, to ask Ruby Simmons &
Miss Grueman as 11th & 12th, and if she
accepted, to ask Beth Marsh as 12th, to have it
Monday & to have only 2 things to eat ("one wet and one dry")
Then they paid their dues (85 cents each) and went home - all apparently
happy. Oh, we also voted Matie, our
former Pres, thanks &c. for her telegram, received just after we
began playing. Edith staid all
night. First we straightened our accounts & found it cost us $12.35 in
cash, the girls' dues amounted to 5.95 which
left for us to pay $3.20 each or $6.40 in all which wasn't so bad,
considering the "Elegance".
