(just back from Montreal) and then Mary Allen took us for a row(!) It had got very calm again. Later Mary
went to bed and Trudy & I rowed alone – or floated, with Albert beside us – in his pet canoe and Helen
with him. Read the “Crisis” later. It had been threatening and thunder- ed and lightned a good deal and for a long time – all the evening in fact and I don’t know how much longer, I went to sleep in the midst. Aug 31. Sat. A rainy, rainy morning and a cold lowering day (something like our first at Blue Mt. Lake) we spent most of the morning playing dominoes with Mr. Mc Connell and Mrs. Anderson & Mr. Dumble Jr. . It is really quite a game. After dinner the Mc Connell’s left, (including “Pete”) and almost everyone sailed over to town with them. Trudy slipped and hurt her hand and she and I didn’t go – but went in for a visit with Mrs. Dumble, who isn’t well today.
