ferried us over to the Island, later and we walked home
thro' the wood and fields - just in time for dinner. After
dinner Gertrude went back there
with the Mc Connells
with my bathing suit – for a swim. I was mildly
settled in the hammock with Mr. Hawkins reading
beside me when it began to sprinkle - and was soon raining hard
and before it was over with we had a terrific storm – such
lightning and thunder and wind! It was really terrible and
lasted a long time. Many boat loads had to take shelter on Islands
and must have gotten very wet indeed. Mr.
Hawkins, Mr. Dumble and I were the
only ones left in the parlor by the time it was over with
Trudy had her bath before
