Jan. 15 Sunday This has been quite a full week for me & rather used me up —
(10th)
Tuesday Burton Holmes' lecture on
(11th)
Fez” – Wednesday & staid home for
(12th)
a change – Thursday – the lecture on “Grecian Journeys” which I’d heard before but which I enjoyed because Chat sat beside me. She is chosen as stenographer in the P.O. at a salary of $50 per month – She has promised her family to take it, but considers it “baby work.” She was the only one who passed the civil service exam. out of 30 – half men! Today Dick
& I took some pictures up in the office. Dick
is getting to
(13th)
be quite a camera fiend – Friday I went to the best lecture of all – “The Grand Canon” – & Chat was with me again
(14th)
& Saturday, Edith, Mary, & I saw Hackett in Rupert of Hentzan which was simply fine – very Gibson pictures-y & Flaria was his model. Jno. & Mae were there – This has been a funny squally day, like April. J.G. went yesterday & today to the bank & I had to take the mail
(15th)
down & take his dictation. Today the wind howls.
