jolly time – tho' it was very impromptu. The girls say I'm getting fat and Mabel’s offering to me was “oh Cholly – boy – oh. Cholly – bub – You're growing like a butter tub!” Chat gave me one on “Olly” – the New Zealander which the girls thought was pretty good. Chat took the first prize – a waste basket of cardboard & wall paper (see illustration) and I the booby – a jack-in-the-box – (see in Helen D's hand on the table!) We had a Dutch supper and a very jolly time.

Claude got home Thursday night and

Con Saturday p.m and came right up to the office to see me and looked very brown and well and had had “The time of his life”! I told him to come up to supper – which he did – and to dinner Sunday – and he and Claude both told their “experiences” which were very interesting. Saturday night Edith, Beth Marsh and I went to see Julia Marlowe in Barbara Fritchie” – a very charming play indeed – and a charming character
