Dec. 20 Wednesday Pleasant. Edith came up to see me in the morning & bid me good- bye. (She goes to N.Y. tomorrow) and bring some things. In the p.m. I made up my mind to go to the office. Everybody was surprised to see me & J.G. said nice things! I got rather tired. Shopped to a small extent. Spend the evening at home by the fire reading. Mazy Wray said "what are you out for!" Dec. 21. Thurs. Cold. Late to office & a pretty hard day but got through. Read "Virginians" tonight. Dec. 22. Friday Rainy & horrid. Claude gave me a lovely oak bookcase for my room. I sent white carnations to Mr.Hodges Got a cute little silver "Bow-wow" paper weight from him and a little painted dish from Mame Stowell. Read & drew pictures (!) tonight. Beach was up this p.m. for a visit. Dec. 23. Sat Almost all the immense amount of snow is gone & the air is balmy like spring & the sun shines - but it's windy. Found the sweetest letter from my Ned this noon - & one from Edith. Also a box containing a lovely Jap. song book & a sweet
