At six John & Otho came down the front stairs &
into the front parlor -
John looking very handsome &
very pale. Up thro' the parlor came the ushers. Then Lois
- beautiful in white with
an im- mense boquet of pink roses. Then
Mae on her father's arm. Her dress
was heavy white silk, train her hair high, with a white rose in it
& her big boquet of white roses, & she looked sweet & modest,
but not embarrassed. Dr. Stebbins
married them, and I never saw a handsomer, nor a sweeter young
couple - everyone seemed to love them - & old Mr.
Stull looked soproud. He thinks Mae is perfect. Of course we congratulated &
petted them and the boys assured
John that "he done noble". Then we
had some lemonade out of the big punch bowl under the stairs, and
while the "first table" ate, went up and saw the whole room full of
presents. They had given our "Mercury" the place of honor -
in
1893.
