and "Hughey" (art 4)
by the roaring parlor wood fire - in the open fireplace - so cozy
& "comfy" - of course they kept on laughing -
Hughey
has named his pigs "Saturday" and "Henry" and "Monday" and the horse
"Polly Star-Twinkle"! He was making "soda water" of the alcohol
& water in
Lizzie's tea - table kettle. We had a
nice supper at which Hughey was
in- dulged by his grandfather &c. and then
Lizzie & I had a nice visit together. She told me
all about her N.Y. visits & the fun she had
going to a Bohemian restaurant with Bessie
Steams
last winter. Also lots of other things - a little after 8
She, Hattie
& I walked down town in the most gorgeous of moonlight nights. Got the
mail & papers &c. & finally I left them at the door -
carrying home blocks of wood from the new store "to set plant on"!
Mama & the
Andrews came home from
Coterie after Mrs. D & I
had had a visit, and then we had cider & apples & the
Gallaghers called.
Oct. 20 Tuesday
A little more brightness this a.m. but not much. Mama & I called on
Auntie Dem in her rooms in the old
house - & heard a letter from Sue. Then I went
down town with Mary
and "Hughey" (art 4)
