June 8. Monday Gilmore bought his bicyle - a Columbia - today. My cyclometer is 440. I wonder when he'll catch up to me. This noon I rode up to Morse's on Prince St., for Mama. It sprinkled when I got ready to start back - so I rode in a street car - with Theo. Rained hard this p.m. & evening. I sewed while Papa read aloud "The Harshaw Bride" in Century June 9. Tuesday Walked down this a.m. It threatened rain & did pour at noon - & this afternoon. Our offices are pleasant on a rainy day. I sit & watch the people scurrying up the Avenue - and when the storm came, too. J.G. & I watched the big gray cloud - all shades of gray, come tearing on before a blank gray rain- storm. It was a sublime sight. I was foolish enough to walk home at noon - be- cause I had errands & missed cars. Got wet of course. Saw Ned at noon. I sewed again this evening, while Papa read a clever little sketch of Bunner's - in Scribner's - about Suburban life. June 10. Wed. A beautiful clear, cool, breezy day. The bicycle races, which were to occur yesterday, came today. J.G. was busy receiving bankers. (I saw one this morning. Jim Edwards of Dansville) so let me go to the races. - Stopped to see Ned at noon "jollied" Mr. Bruff. Rode up with Marie

. Geo. Booth was here during the "deluge" so no one saw him. I went back to the office before two and Claude & I rode down to the
