a bad fall Helen & Charlotte had last night. He also invited me (& Ned) to ride to the Lake tonight. It was going to be a lovely night and I accepted. Stopped at Ned's office and had a chat with Mr. Bruff. He joked, as usual. Met Mary & Warren Fisk & rode up with them I got to Ned's about 7:10 tonight and we went down - Frank, Ned & I - via Frank St. Saw Freddie & Ida &c. when we passed & had a perfectly delightful ride down - 3 abreast - I never saw a much more gorgeous sunset. Blood red "blobs" of color over West - with flames between - and in the East the softest purples, violets, pinks & greens. And the landscape beneath those delicious spring tints so fresh & soft and beautiful. We locked our wheels together near the life- saving station when we arrived - and then walked away out to the very end of the Summerville pier. Saw people fishing & "jollied" Frank & enjoyed sky &water. F. was buying us popcorn, when we came back, when behold you! there were Mary & Alice & their wheels! We had a short & somewhat nervous (not on my part!) con- versation and then sat down to our popcorn - starting off later, leaving Mary & Alice waiting for a car. The ride home was very delightful. We went slowly & rested
