at Mary's going home, she & Emma were enthusiastic about going. We all met at Dake's (I went up with Ned & there were Charlotte and Mary & Emma) Mrs. Gilmore & her sisters were waiting too. Our seats were very good 4th row way up stairs. Elsie & Will Wray sat in front of us. It was a very enjoyable evening, the scenery & was special & good & of course the characters were simply beyond criticism, with the possible exception of Nat Goodwin who was rather disappointing as Sir Lucius. The Tabers were quite charming - a handsome pair of lovers - a little of Romeo's air still lurked about Robert, but he was a good Jack Absolute for all that Julia was very good indeed as Lydia & looked pretty. Of course Mrs. Malaprop was simply perfect & so was Bob Acres & Sir Anthony, I do admire Mr. Crane and the scenes with his son - Jack - were fine. Poor old Joe Jefferson, what a dear, delightful pathetic Bob, & to see him in his scene with Francis Wilson - an ideal doat

of a David - was something to have lived for. The Hollands did well - tho' the characters are not particularly attractive - & Fanny Rice was very cute & funny & nice. There were
