and didn't get down till nearly 10, to find Mary had been up for me to go to the Park, I didn't. I washed dishes & read Harper's and made prints & cleaned "Diana" & sang & talked to Claude (who was making "dinky - dink" drawings) and after dinner & Mama had gone to church I was just about to settle down to reading when the day was so lovely & Diana so luring that I got on & rode away down to Mary's, to find her & Alice most willing to come too. Before we started Jack Ballagh & Ed Teall came & we chatted with them & the girls awhile. Then (about quarter of six) we rode out to beautiful Genesee Valley Park. We got off on the hill & I took the girls' pictures under a tree. Then we sat on the grass & listened to the orchestra playing "Swannee River" & "Black America" and saw people pass & then rode out to the Sunset seat (thro' "Lovers' Lane") and there I took their pictures again - sitting on a "pew" & Mary took mine in a tree enclosure & I took the valley & the sunset. We were going home but I couldn't bear to leave the beautiful sunset behind, so suggested we go down Genesee St. which we did, and out Kenwood Ave. to "Hattie

's" where we found baby Stanley
with his curls cut off. Then we rode around those streets & down Chili Avenue into the glorious red West.
