" & we had lemon-
ade & cake. Claude was very
"folksy" & I enjoyed myself. Ned
did not, I understand.
Mae & John are very happy in their cozy little home. We saw
Edith on her car and
Ned to her door. Gorgeous moonlight.
Apr. 29 Wed.Papa's birthday. I gave him 3
Shakespear's & 2 neckties. A gorgeous day. Came a
lovely letter from Cousin Alice
Wolfe inviting me to
Ogunquit! Think of it! Half a month (Either half of July) at that lovely place in her
guest room, "small but with windows toward the ocean"! I was in a 7th
heaven all day. J.W. went
kodaking (took Claude's
picture) & to the country club this p.m. J.G.
didn't come down & Martha went
house- hunting. I miss Gilmore.
Mary was up a few minutes
after supper, to see if I wanted to go to Davis' - but I didn't - We had a cozy grate fire in the
evening. It was quite cool. Ned &
Freddie were up & seemed to
enjoy themselves. We played anagrams.
Apr. 30 Thurs.
Busy day. I rode, of course. Went to Mary's for 10 minutes after supper. She was going to
the train to see Hattie &
Bert Brower off for
Buffalo - a great time. Everyone was to bring
bundles &c for them to carry. I came home early & wrote to
Alice - also to Gertrude & read "A Lady of
Quality" by Mrs. Burnett.
