The water had begun to go down this morning a very little, I suppose it was highest late last night or early this morning. The sun didn't come out till I was half way down town, but I went up to Clarissa St. Bridge & took a couple of pictures there. One of the Erie tracks completely inun- dated. The trains stop up in the coal yards above the bridge, & there the express wagons &c. were waiting for the 8:30 train. I took a picture at Edinburgh St. (the man had got out of the boat, unfortunately) and one at Adams & one at Troup - tho' the water was a trifle lower than last night, everywhere. Then I took one of the same picture view, taken Tuesday and coming down at noon I took the two engines in front of Powers Hotel & the one at the German Ins. Bldg. (showing the Powers. Bldg. one in the left background). I got a stunning new cloth bicycling hat (Alpine shape) this noon - & visited Pope's store. Our offices are certainly lovely - the darker the day, the better. Read tonight - about the Olympic games at Athens &c. Also, a cute Van Bibber story ("Cinderella".) Apr. 3. Friday Not a pleasant day. Snow & wind & other disagreeables. Could get down Exchange Street from Adams this morning & walked all the way up Exchange (See the shine!) at noon.
