and got a row of chairs out in front of the pilot house, but
afterward left (to the purser's regret!) because of the wind, & spent
most of the afternoon in the stern - eating peaches, the rest of the

again (or still) all but Mary & Edith who "tho't it was getting rough(!)" and I went down
and interviewed the Steward, but couldn't get sandwiches till "after
supper" at six. At six NedEmma & I went down & ate a
very hearty supper - steak &c. & two helps of everything. The
brunette
Padrewski who waited on us had a button on inscribed "girl
wanted!" After supper we had sandwiches & coffee sent up to the
girls - but they didn't enjoy 'em! I was sorry for the girls who felt
sick, but I did enjoy the rest of the ride, the
red sunset, & a black sail by it, the gray blue wake and fading
colors of the water and then the gorgeous moonlight and the far-off
lights - fast approaching - and later still the glitter & gleam of
the brilliant little harbor - and our still craft gliding silently
between it all and on & on - only leaving the little anchored
yachts distressed by tossing from
