She opened her box & I mine, to give her chicken whereupon I ate more bread & butter & chicken & cake & peaches & only had remnants to pack in her box, & mine was emptied and thrown away. We both felt fine then (I had all the time) and it got calmer & we combed our hair and witnessed the landing at Coburg about 1 o'clock & a man photographed the boat & a woman loudly welcomed another - arrived from abroad - and loaded her into a carriage & drove away, & the pony carts and bicycles one by one disappeared and we steamed over to Port Hope and found Ned, Mary & Emma promenading the pier with a young man - a bet up that we would or would not come. The Y.M. (a mere stripling) turned out to be "Mr. Long", and he did us the honors of Port Hope, for we walked up into the Metropolis I took a "group' on the way up, (I had taken Edith & she me on the boat) and we looked at neck ties, & were intro- duced to "Mr. Barrett", who walked back with us, with his wheel. Got peaches &c and heard stories of Stony Lake & Kirk- patrick. The girls are all brown & look well. Helen took us all eating peaches (with her camera) on the upper deck. At last we left (about three).
