where Mr. Miller (all dressed up) Wiltsie and Mr. Twombly "set up" Mrs. D's new wheel - with a great deal of difficulty, and Mrs. Perrin (in white duck & a red ribbon) Mrs. Miller (in a lovely straw- color and black lace trimmed lawn) Mrs. Day, Miss Day, Mrs. T. & I looked on. About eight we strolled down home, Alice put G to bed and Verne Perkins (a small boy) presented me with a larger sunflower! When Alice came down she & Wiltsie, Miss Iles, Miss Field, Miss Davis & I talked on the piazza. Miss I had been calling on Miss Lowell, and said Mr. L. Mrs.Reading , Miss L. & a "dragon" had driven to York this p.m. "Poor Old Man" Wiltsie says! Miss Dennis goes in the morning, too. After the mail came (a letter from Claude) Wiltsie took Alice & Miss Iles & me down for a "farewell drink" - lemon soda, and we had a nice little talk while waiting. Miss I is "hot stuff". I'd like to see her fiancé. We all bade her "goodbye" very regretfully indeed. July 30. Thursday Miss Iles left in a dank, dark, fog, early this morning and Miss Dennis afterward. It was foggy all day long. Lifted a little in the morning but blew back again & again. Wiltsie invited us to a "fishing match" on the bridge after breakfast, and when we had stopped for clams and
