fished for cod, but they didn't bite well. I brought up one 4 or 5 pounder, and as I landed him he dropped from the hook, Capt. paid me the compliment of saying I was the only lady he had ever seen who pulled in the lines correctly! Wiltsie was very nice. He sang a little, we talked & joked & I enjoyed it but got sleepy - something kept tickling the bait enough to make it interesting, but nobody caught any- thing more till Wiltsie caught a dog- fish - which explained it. It's a savage little shark-like thing which drives the cod away. Then we had a magnificent sail back to "Perkin's Cove" - I reclining in the stern seat in the shade of the sail and W. smoking, sideways, and entertaining me. The shore clear & fair ahead & the blue-eyed captain. The sea beautiful & the sky fair behind - white sails on the horizon and "joy in our hearts". It was simply delightful - at our first anchorage I caught a rock cod and a cummer and Wiltsie nothing. At our second, I caught about 10 cummers & Wiltsie four or five. Far away we & heard somebody's supper bell & realized that the sun was sinking low. So over we went to Lobster Point and
