really quite an exploration and I enjoyed it tho' the roads might have been better & I didn't get much ocean breeze. It is a wild and picturesque way, a good deal of it and I tho't I had left civilization several times - and the two miles I went seemed much more. I got back, pretty warm, to find the piazza empty - and spent 3/4 of an hour or more before discovering a message from Alice in my looking glass. Mr. & Mrs. Perrin, Mrs Miller, Miss Bradley and Miss Iles had gone to Bald Head Cliffs on wheels and wanted me to follow. Of course they had an hour's start - but I left here at eleven and got over there - about 2 1/2 or 3 miles- in 25 minutes - up some pretty hard hills. There I found all but Miss Iles - who was calling at the hotel - and I took some pictures & taught Mrs. Perrin how. The cliff and the breakers are certainly magnificent and very high, indeed. Fog rolled up now and then - and the day was not clear. The breeze was so cool & strong as to make us chilly - Mr. Perrin was anxious to go on to York - Mrs. P. & Miss Miller decided not to but we other four did - such a nice ride - very hilly, to be sure but so curvy, and surprisy & pretty. We stopped to eat berries & walk up hills.
