the hill, past the Lookout (where "Cora" got Mrs. Reading) to the most magnificent bathing beach- between lovely rocks- just this side of "Lobster Point". All our party went in but Alice, Mrs. Miller and I. The children looked so cute I tried to take their picture- and the procession "going toward the river" also. Then I took Mrs. Miller, Alice & Mrs. Reading alone, and Mrs. M. when she didnt't know it (since she was my special admiration) They also made me squander a couple of plates on "the fat man" who came in presently _ dog & all - People kept gathering & more going in - the "artist" & his "lady friend" strolled by and altogether we had a lovely time. The water was 63° and lovely - all said. We came home by the beach- Mrs. Perrin marching ahead with Alice's cushion for a turban- Only got in in time to wash up for dinner. And everyone was ravenous - Had a nice dinner - fish chowder, chicken, "milk sherbet" &c. This is a beautiful clear day. Right after dinner Alice, Miss B., Gordon & Hester Miller and I started off on a tramp - Mrs. Miller & Jeanette bade us goodbye in the path and we trod the picturesque village street to the country part. Went down the road still further, and then turned in to the meadows behind the river in search of sweet grass - which we found.
