bridge over the wide waters at sunset - a beautiful place then. The
hills & sky & water. The lily pads & the old scows make
a "charming bit" as my artist friends wd. say. Found Charlotte - "Papa & Mama" &
Davis home - & mended my
ripped skirt while we talked. Had a nice ride home - thro'
Rutger St., and
Ned rode part way up with me. Theo says
Mr.Bunnell will let me take a Bullseye camera.
July 10. Friday
Warm, but breezy-busy, but didn't feel like it. Mr. Cutler
's. After supper rode up to the park with
Claude & saw a funny game of base
ball & then went over against the fence (bicycle grandstand) and
watched the
Century bicycle races. The races were enter- taining - but
the comments of people inside & outside more so "Go it,
Bonesey" "Hit her up there Brown". "Get on
to the handicap dey gives dat mug". "Remember now Maud,
we have an engagement". "What d'y go up to the park for". "There ain't no
people at all up on the benches tonight". "Do you know that fellow
in a green sweater" "How 'do girls, watching the races?" "All we
care to, thank you". &c. &c. &c. Had quite a chat with
Miss Dinehart
when I got home, & tried her wheel. Then pegged away at
Anagrams. Bryan nominated by Dems.
