bridge over the wide waters at sunset - a beautiful place then. The hills & sky & water. The lily pads & the old scows make a "charming bit" as my artist friends wd. say. Found Charlotte - "Papa & Mama" & Davis home - & mended my ripped skirt while we talked. Had a nice ride home - thro' Rutger St., and Ned rode part way up with me. Theo says Mr.Bunnell will let me take a Bullseye camera. July 10. Friday Warm, but breezy-busy, but didn't feel like it. Mr. Cutler
sent for the bicycles- his & Mrs.Cutler
's. After supper rode up to the park with Claude & saw a funny game of base ball & then went over against the fence (bicycle grandstand) and watched the Century bicycle races. The races were enter- taining - but the comments of people inside & outside more so "Go it, Bonesey" "Hit her up there Brown". "Get on to the handicap dey gives dat mug". "Remember now Maud, we have an engagement". "What d'y go up to the park for". "There ain't no people at all up on the benches tonight". "Do you know that fellow in a green sweater" "How 'do girls, watching the races?" "All we care to, thank you". &c. &c. &c. Had quite a chat with Miss Dinehart when I got home, & tried her wheel. Then pegged away at Anagrams. Bryan nominated by Dems.
