I was "a daisy" - or something similar - to suggest it It was a nice ride - tho' the boy had to "tote" both our wheels over the high canal bridge. We came zipping up Linden Lane - I ahead - & green fields & blue sky & white clouds about & the voice of approval behind. Mary didn't get back to dinner, tho' I expected her. We had ice cream and all the "trimmings". I went upstairs and rested and read till about five and then we started off for the lake - Con & I - with Mama, Papa, Theo & the Behns to bid us farewell. We went thro' the park on the west side & saw Blondin's rope again and I led the way down the cinder path. It was very pretty, but we met "scorchers" and Con tho't it rather narrow. The lake was Peace itself and the sky was beautiful. We had phosphate and got popcorn & strolled out to the end of the pier, where we inter- viewed some lucky fishermen and then walked back on the high part watching the beautiful sunset. Con carved an "MB" and an "1897" on the rail - to commemorate the Birthday. We also went around the switchback thing, in honor of the day. It is quite thrilling and makes one's thrills come on the curves. We crossed the ferry & spent the hour of cold
