I went down at 5:30 & had toast & tea & cake with
Edith, little Dorothy
& "Aunt Martha". Then we sat before the
wood fire & talked till eight o'clock when & came home to
write & fuss away - I was going to be so industrious today! but had to be outdoors.
Nov. 1st. Tuesday
I must begin away back - over two weeks ago - but I can't think of
anything but theatres, Con took me to
"Shenandoah"
(10/22)
Saturday night and it was very exciting - guns - horses - real
soldiers &c. but very
(10/23)
badly acted. Sunday we were alone for
Mama went to
Dansville the Sat (Papa only, C. in
Syr.) before. I got breakfast for the "boys".
Con was up in the morning & walked
down to Plymouth Church with
us& I went home to dinner with Frank
Davis. We had chicken & shrimp - very nice - and a
nice long old-fashioned chat afterward - French English &
foreign. Do we remember the night in Paris when we
cracked the nuts on the marble mantel and I broke a 2 1/2 fr vase?
&c. Late in the p.m. Helen & I
walked down to Lura's & staid to
tea & played with Peter - who is a very graceful black kitten - cat.
Monday & Tuesday I got up early & got breakfasts - but then
Papa went to
Dansville
for the 25th Coterie
anniversary and we ate
