& the children & the Greens & Will's bear skin &c. & found Fredricka home & "Tuesday" trimming his own Christmas tree in Kindergarten style. F. got ready & came up town with me. I sat & read "Quo Vadis" and ate candy & after supper Con came up & we had our "pie" in the dining room. During it various of the girls & messengers came with things. It was great fun. I got loads & loads of things. Mama gave me Harper's Monthly (& a lot more) Papa another journal (&c.) He says I needn't keep it if I insist - after 1900! Claude gave me all the rest of the Thackeries

a check for $20.00! & Mama one. Con a big cut glass bottle of violet water & a bow on it it took him half an hour to tie. Harvey Ellis gave me a beauty of a picture - pastel & water- color - called "Long Ago". It is a gem - a nice little note came with it. Ned "worked" me a Christmas Card - in silks & linen - etc.etc. I was overwhelmed. Frank Davis gave me Actor playing cards, too. Con seemed to enjoy it so much & was delighted with the muffler I gave him
