"Heartsease". It was very good and the Andrews seemed quite wild about it. The end of the second act - where he has lost everything - the 3rd - in the lobby of the theatre in the 4th in luxurious chamber & the duet are very good. The costumes were most picturesque - especially his black suit & blue silk lined coat &c. He doesn't look so well without a moustache. It was a nice play to think about. Mary was very nice - the Weaver party sat next to us. Thurs. Oct. 7th Woke up to find it raining hard. Mama went to Genes Avon to a missionary meeting and was gone all day (till 5:55 when I met her). It rained most of the morning and was cloudy & cold the rest of the day. I invited Edith to lunch with me today and we met Charlotte and went to the Livingston Grille room - where a polite waiter saves Charlotte's table everyday. We had a very good time - the Vagabonds were in the distance and their solemn waiter "George
" brought us three pieces of pumpkin pie "with Mr. Hillman's compliments". We had a very late supper tonight and then a grate fire (our new gas log) lit - and Frank & Helen Davis were over. "They brought me a basket of grapes" from Hamilton. Oct. 8th Friday A lovely day. Met Rose Mills again and she told me she met "My friend Mr. Taylor"
