and followed us to a seat under a chestnut tree in the meadow -
where we conversed with the sheep - talked - sewed (Edith) & read.
Bab Ballads (and watched the few kites which the gentle
zephyrs allowed to group - the pretty red box-kites would not stay up -
nor a very gorgeous yellow kite with a tail.
Ned & Will joined us later - Will danced& smoked & matched quarters with
Ned - who borrowed my camera to
take his picture & later I took "the crowd" - posed most
strikingly. We spent about two hours in the park & all rode home
together - five abreast. Edith
came to supper with me & then went to the train to meet Elsie & the baby (coming from
Chili & then came back & took me down
to Teall's for ice cream-most
delicious. We sat there a long time & talked & then I came home to
read & write. Arno came &
conversed with Papa some time. Frieda's hand was swollen &
Ollie announced to
Mama that "a bee bit Frieda and now & she has the hives!"
Frieda went to a "sort of a little
birthday party" at Elsie
's
tonight.
