260SEPTEMBER 8 Thurs 1910
Fog this morning. The
Browns left. I read a while & took
Bascom's picture (after he sang to me). Then went over across
with Anna and spent the morning on the end of The
West Pier. We finished once but caught working - others did, early.
Sea & sky just a like today. 2 boy canoeists camped here last night
& tonight (from Pultneyville) I read and rested
must of the p.m. & put on my pink dress for supper. An odd but beautiful
sunset. Nearly got caught in rain on the pier after supper. Had a long
talk with Mr. Holmes of Batavia after
the ladies went upstairs. His son Robert
just leaving for [illegible].
Fri 1911
A trifle warmer. Lunched with
Bess & Mary. at Sibley's
worked on specifications till six. Then went out to Claude's to supper & then came back and
worked till ten. Mother went to see
Jim
Who has most of Gladys 'Brewster's
wedding flowers in his room! Brought by Miss Sloan.
Alice Bradshaw was in.
Sun 1912
Lovely day. Fussed around all
the morning. Went to C's to dinner
& sat outside this p.m. Mother
read "St. Nicholas" to the boys. Then & Nana walked with us over to the tennis courts
& I went to Alice Galloway's to ice
cream &c (took Sue's picture) stopped at
Florence Rogers' coming back & had a nice letter
visit.
Mon 1913
Fine day. Lunched with
Lura
& Frank Davis. His wedding day to
be
in Oct. 1st. Tonight he & Chattie
came & spent the evening. Jim
took me out to Frey's this p.m. &
then up to his house. Channie
is sick. Claude in
Deerfield (E.
wouldn't go)
Tues. 1914
Cold & some rain. At 11
o'clock [illegible]
called & took the 4 of us up to 8th carry where we had such a good
shore dinner (party we the rain) & then a lovely
12=mile walk - nearly to Uncas Lodge & back (Farther than
Bess & I went) Saw a deer in
the forest. Lying down & then leaping away saw Mohegan Lake.
Launch came for us at 6. We were a stiff & lame lot sitting around
the big Franklin stove tonight! Lots of fun!
