Lovely cool day. Home to lunch
& dress and at five went to the pl ([illegible]!) with
MabelHelen, Lura &
Edith. Mabel & May were at
Mac Arthur's
tent. We took a picnic supper & had a fine time. Mabel rented & we talked and walked
around &c. &c. Home at 10. Read aloud to Mother & did accts. Miss
Garfield is coming!
Sat. 1911
It rained hard in the night
& was very "soggy" today. Up early & off the boat before 7. Checked
bags & went to Champlain Market - very frenchy &
picturesque - a W.H. French "pleasant" time. Then to Ste Anne de
Beaupre
sick baby. High mass - paraletic - to old church
"Scala sacra" graveyard. [illegible] & then
followed processions with priest. Saw offerings. To Kent Home to
dinner & Montmorency Falls & walk in woods & to zoo.
Back to Frontenac - ([illegible] driver.) Room 238
walk to P.O. for lots of mail & for candy French pastry & film to
"Petit [illegible]" & chapel - a Bath! & a fine dinner
& then walked about & wrote. "Everybody happy".
Mon 1912.
Muggy disagreeable day.
Everyone feeling mean. I have a cold. A hard thunder & wind storm
tonight. The
Behns were caught in it up the river & the Carings on the lake! Read and wrote
& did accounts.
Tues. 1913
Lunched with Bess & Mary. They evidently didn't enjoy their
Sodus vacation much. Henry & Chan
came in looking so handsome - on their way to
the Lake in our "Ford"
(Farley's)
Wed. 1914
Cool & clear.
Florence 'phoned - just back. Lunched with
Florence Rogers. (They invited me to
Niagara Falls
Sunday & Marguerite &
Catty to Conesus)
Ruth
