243AUGUST 22 Mon 1910
Muggy day. Told J.W. I was going to leave & had quite a
session with him. He offered to give me an office & let me dictate
&c&c. and really was very complimentary before he got through - but I
couldn't help telling him about J.G.
old letters (1/09)
wrote to J.G. Lunched with Bess & Mame. They look fine & had a nice time. Jim, Tappan
and
Butler talk of buying 3 of Amelie houses!!!
Mrs. Caring gave a party for
Margaret Cunningham's 5th birthday.
Tues 1911.
Went thro' rapids &
stopped at docks from very early morning. After early breakfast "Long
Sault" Rapids & fine! & all exciting - especially [illegible] (last) big rocks here. A fine trip. Warm day too. A
young Newton boy "Fred
" Kodaked incessantly we all did some.
Montreal
early p.m. fine harbour - snots &c. Drive to Chateau de
Ramesay
& especially Mt. Royal - soda &c. & a hazy
but fine view! Residences of "Managers" &c. off again at 6. & after
dinner up in front of pilot house (where we'd spent the day) with a
very nice man from Baltimore.
(learning the lights &c.) and a very queer base-ball fan girl from
Pittsburgh. Songs. Thurs 1912
Uneventful nowadays.
Jimvery busy, with Claude away! It rains sometimes
every day!
Fri. 1913
A little air tonight. Read in
bed before breakfast. Mr. S.
wanted us to go to the P.O. so we did - but got caught on the rain
coming home (it was rather fun) Had a long day together. We exhaust the
W'S at meals (tho' they are very pleasant) but
Mr. S. takes care of us at other times. I finished
"The quest at Tuesday" & Mary played Solitaire (under WLS)
and everyone was glad it rained, never the less.
Sat 1914
Nice day. Went to
Tom [illegible]'s funeral at 2:30 and at 4:10 to Meadow-
wood
with Mother to dinner at
Stull's. Such a nice time. We staid
till 10:25. Letitia then (but going to
leave.) Saw pergolas &c &c. & had Victrola music in Nantucket
hammock
